Experimental characterization and FEA-supported design of a jointless macro synthetic fibre reinforced industrial floor in Latin-America (2026)

A standardized design method for determining the maximum joint spacing of such floors is currently unavailable; existing guidelines provide only general recommendations.

To complement existing design approaches, a finite element model was developed and applied to assess the behaviour of a jointless industrial floor subjected to shrinkage and environmental effects. Material parameters were determined through laboratory testing, and time-dependent shrinkage relationships were derived from the experimental results. The numerical analyses were performed using the ATENA software and were used to support the interpretation of field measurements and observed floor performance.
